SVP Controller

Job Description

Prestigious bank in west Houston is looking for an SVP Controller to join their team. The Controller will be responsible for establishing, coordinating, and maintaining an accounting system the accurately reflects the financial position of the bank.

Primary Duties:
  • Approve final audit reports and make recommendations to CFO
  • Manage accounting staff administrative and finance duties; supervise accounting functions for the bank
  • Monitor cost control activities, and approve and implements cost control strategies as needed
  • Perform monthly close process, financial reporting financial analyses, cash management, and forecasting reports
  • Prepare and review bank financial projections and managed bank investment activities
  • Prepare budgets and perform periodic analysis of budget variance
  • Perform technical accounting research and document as needed
  • Ensure bank’s accounting procedures are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
  • Oversee training of accounting department and branch department personnel
  • Review performance evaluations for direct reports and recommend salary adjustments, promotions, discharges, and other personnel-related actions
  • Work closely with all department heads in determining priorities to ensure processing and reporting needs are met and executed properly
  • Make recommendations and participate in the selection of related equipment to be purchased or leased
  • Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge of compliance responsibilities
  • Comply with applicable regulations

Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Master’s degree in business or related field and 10-15 years of experience in management
  • CPA preferred
  • Excellent supervisory, communication, and organizational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of bank policies and procedures
  • Outstanding analytical and financial skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
