Job Description


We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Consumer Loan Officer to join our team. This role involves receiving, reviewing, and processing applications for consumer loans, credit cards, and lines of credit. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills to explain credit policies, obtain additional loan documentation, and cross-sell Credit Union services to members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Loan Processing: Interview applicants, gather necessary documentation, evaluate loan applications, verify credit criteria, and approve loans within lending limits. Prepare and process all loan-related documents, ensuring compliance with Credit Union policies and legal requirements.
  • Member Service: Provide professional, prompt service to members. Resolve account issues, offer financial counseling, and ensure members are informed about Credit Union policies and services.
  • Team Collaboration: Assist and train loan support personnel, coordinate with area personnel and management, and attend necessary meetings. Maintain accurate records and reports.

Essential Functions:
  • Evaluate loan applications, compute debt ratios, verify employment/income, and determine collateral value.
  • Coordinate loan closings, process payoffs, refinances, and other loan servicing activities.
  • Sell ancillary products like debt protection and extended warranties.
  • Maintain a professional and clean work environment, ensuring the security of documents and equipment.

Performance Measurements:
  • Efficient and compliant execution of lending functions.
  • Establishment of good business relationships with members, effectively explaining services and resolving issues.
  • Timely and accurate reporting.
  • Positive working relationships with area personnel and management.

Qualifications:
  • Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in consumer lending or full-service financial institutions is highly preferred.
